Six Month Braces utilizes the techniques of traditional orthodontics and puts a modern twist on them. First off, the brackets are clear and the wires are tooth colored so they are hardly noticeable.
The key difference between the two are Six Month Smiles uses wires with a shape memory that moves your teeth back into it’s original shape, regardless of how bent or twisted it becomes when on your teeth.
The other main difference is the use of lower force which actually moves your teeth faster and is less painful than conventional metal braces. Since they don’t have to be worn as long, Six Month Braces are typically a affordable option as well.
Your teeth will look great in no time!
Before the invention of accelerated braces, conventional braces were the only option for everyone. The wires and brackets are made of metal so they stand out more than Six Month Braces do, and conventional braces are typically worn for 1 or 2 years, depending on the level of adjustment needed.
If your bite is severely misaligned or your teeth are extremely crooked, conventional braces will be the better option for correction.
- Treatment time for traditional metal braces is usually 2-3 years while 6 Month Smiles braces require six months only.
- Regular braces show metal framework while Six Month Smiles system uses clear brackets and tooth colored wires.
- Braces fix other dental problems about dental braces while Six Month Smiles focuses on the cosmetic part of aligning the front teeth.
- Traditional braces cost more than Six Month Smiles.
If you find yourself covering your mouth when you laugh or forcing closed mouth smiles for photographs or simply have crooked teeth you want straightened, Six Month Braces are probably for you!

- Overbite: It is when the upper front teeth overlap the lower front teeth more than the average measurement that the edges of the upper front teeth almost drop below the lower front teeth.
- Underbite: is a condition wherein the lower front teeth overlap the upper front teeth.

When you meet with our specialist, we will ask you questions about your health and perform a clinical exam. We will take a series of X-rays of your head and mouth, along with photographs and an impression that will be used to create a plaster model of your teeth.
Once we have all the relevant information, our San Diego dentist will prescribe a plan of treatment best suited for your particular situation.
Typically, the orthodontist will begin by thoroughly cleaning and drying your teeth. Next, he will apply an adhesive substance to your teeth to attach the brackets. Once they are in place, he will install the arch wire into the brackets and use elastic to secure them in place. Typically, the entire process takes between 1 and 2 hours.
Though the procedure itself is not painful, it is not uncommon to feel some level of discomfort afterward. Initially, your tongue and cheek will rub against the regular braces, which may cause some sensitivity, and your teeth may feel sore. Getting used to the braces will typically take about a week.
